Towards a sustainable European PaaS-based cloud solution for e-Science

INDIGO - DataCloud develops an open source data and computing platform targeted at scientific communities, deployable on multiple hardware and provisioned over hybrid, private or public, e-infrastructures.  By filling existing gaps in PaaS and SaaS levels, INDIGO-DataCloud will help developers, resources providers, e-infrastructures and scientific communities to overcome current challenges in the Cloud computing, storage and network areas.

INDIGO platform develops and delivers software to simplify the execution of applications on Cloud and Grid based infrastructures, as well as on HTC and HPC clusters, by extending existing PaaS solutions and integrating services provided by existing e-infrastructures (e.g. EGI, EUDAT, PRACE and Helix Nebula)



Technology Innovation

INDIGO brings innovation in computing, storage and network aspects of the cloud. It introduces a cloud middleware framework based on OpenStack and OpenNebula supporting TOSCA automation templates; advanced computing scheduling features; improved storage & network virtualisation; and an advanced PaaS layer providing transparency, error management & elasticity/SLA management.

INDIGO provides 11 scientific communities with a range of open source services to simplify the execution of applications on Cloud and Grid based infrastructures, as well as on HTC and HPC clusters. They include flexible data sharing across groups & infrastructures; multiple sources and storage locations; transparent network interconnections for distributed computing and storage resources; dynamic and complex workflow management & more.
