This document summarizes the architectural vision of INDIGO-DataCloud. It presents a coherent view of the architecture from the point of view of solving identified shortcomings preventing researchers from using e-infrastructures in a straightforward and efficient way. Therefore, the emphasis is put on motivating and explaining the architectural choices, in light of the requirements of user communities, rather than in the very detailed explanations of all the components.
